Reel Affirmations: The Nation's LGBT Film Festival 2008

Who's the fiercest drag queen of all? Pageant follows 50 contestants competing for the crown in the Miss Gay America Pageant, an annual search for the nation's top female impersonator.

This fun-spirited documentary covers the entire pageant, including performances in evening gown and talent competitions and on-stage interviews. Contestants, who may not have had any cosmetic surgery below the neck and must be female-hormone free, also are interviewed by the judges out of drag. The film focuses in-depth on five contestants-including both amateur and professional female impersonators-aspiring to fulfill their dreams of glamour and recognition, including interviews with their families and friends.

With more drama than the Miss America, Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants combined, this is one of the most moving films of the festival - not to be missed!.
