Were The World Mine
Tom Gustafson 2007
Categories: Feature Film
Run time: 95 min. | United States

Enjoy the fantastic world of Were the World Mine, the eagerly anticipated feature film based on Faeries, the much loved short film by Tom Gustafson.

Dreamy (and prone to day-dreaming) Timothy (Tanner Cohen) is stuck in a private, all boys prep school, pining for hottie rugby player Jonathan (Nathaniel Becker).

The heart and soul of the film is the tender relationship between the two boys, but this lighthearted take on A Midsummer's Night Dream is steeped in the fantastical, tumultuous world of the male adolescent.

Tanner, Jonathan and the rest of the rugby team are forced to pull double duty as the cast and crew of their school's theatre production. Reluctant at first, Jonathan, as Puck, soon finds his inner thespian under the flighty yet loving hand of drama teacher Ms. Tebbit (Wendy Roble of Twin Peaks fame).

Under fire for by his teammates and coach, our lonely hero retreats to daydreams of musical numbers, stolen kisses, and rugby players in go-go shorts.

Armed with a fertile imagination, Tanner unlocks within his battered rehearsal book a magic spell. With a few waves of a now magical purple pansy and some early mishaps involving his two best friends, Tanner is soon on his way - wielding his magic wand and turning the entire town gay, gay, gay!

By the time of the play's debut, Tanner's mom is fending off a surprise suitor, uber-butch Coach Driskill is making eyes at well.. we'll leave that for you to see, and no one can see straight.

Gorgeously crafted and accompanied by a vibrant soundtrack of pop and dance tunes, Were The World Mine will sweep you off your feet!

After the screening, join director Tom Gustafson for our Closing Night Gala on the glamorous mezzanine of the Shakespeare Theatre's Harman Center for the Arts.
