Reel Affirmations: The Nation's LGBT Film Festival 2009

Named one of 2008’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film by Filmmaker Magazine, EE Cassidy has crafted a love letter to the decadence of the 60s, with a touch of innocence lost thrown in. Sadie’s art is her photography and her life, which, let’s face it — is going now here fast. She’s prone to heroic gestures aimed at girls who don’t know she exists. She’s artsy and, well, the weirdest girl at school. Until Nico — the glamour girl with the bangs, the miniskirts, and the limp appears. Together they explore Britain’s 60’s mod culture of music, fashion, drugs and vintage scooters in contemporary Los Angeles. Sadie observes the world through the lens of her 35 mm camera, but everything changes when Nico quickly draws Sadie into her orbit. Before she can say "Quadrophenia," Sadie finds herself thrown from one adventurous mishap to the next, all at the urging of the spotlight loving Nico. Decisions loom as Sadie faces a deadline for art school, while Nico becomes ever more desperate to hold on to her friend.
